"Showcase Presents: Green Lantern, Vol. 1"

WORTH CONSUMING!

Like many silver age comics, these tales are kind of corny. But unlike the Superman stories of the 60’s the plots are very intertwined and very few nits are found ( for nitpickers) this is great for anyone wanting to own every GL story ever written and in order.

Look for a big nit in issue 16 when GL says his oath.

"The Miserable Mill - Book 4 of A Series of Unfortunate Events"

WORTH CONSUMING!
Much better than book three. Why, you ask? It’s simple…. There’s no Count Olaf until like page 103 in this book. The guy is a letch and I can’t stand him. Plus, for once a book in the series finally lived up to its name. The mill really was miserable.

So, my pick of rank in the series (read so far…) goes like this:

Book Two, Book Four, Book One, Book Three.

"Top Ten: The Forty-Niners"

WORTH CONSUMING!

A Great read. But it was a little weird though. The book said it was a prequel, yet I don’t think any of these characters appear in the true TOP TEN SERIES. And I really want to read them anyway. Allan Moore, the creator and writer, is a freaking genius AND has created a fantastic world. Worth Reading!!!

"Showcase Presents Metamorpho: The Element, Man Vol 1"

WORTH CONSUMING!

How dare they end the series with a cliffhanger… it’s like living through the movie Galaxy Quest. Still I really enjoyed the art and reading all the old issues. The lingo was kinda corny.

"Ian Fleming's James Bond 007: Permission to Die Book #2 (Two)"

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Lame and very dull ending.

Hardly any dialogue and most pages are collages of actions so jumbled I don’t know when what happened at what time, and actually, now that I think about it, I don’t know who was doing what.

There’s supposed to be a book 3, but I don’t think I care that much to find out what happens in it.

"Ian Fleming's James Bond 007: Permission to Die Book #1 (One)"

WORTH CONSUMING!

Has a really cool opening sequence and feels like you are reading a movie. Art is pretty cool, like film noir, and The ASP is a nifty weapon.

Sadly, not much character development and the weapons introduced in the Q lab are never used. What gives?

"The Austere Academy (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 5)" — 2006

WORTH CONSUMING!
Finally, it just got interesting. I like the cliff hanger affect in this book. It’s like the author finally got his confidence in this one. But the real mystery is not the cliff-hanger involving Count Olaf and the Quagmire triplets, it’s just who in the heck is Beatrice?…and what does she have to do with the progression of the story?

Inquiring minds want to know.

So far my ranking is (read so far…) goes like this:

Book Two, Book Five, Book Four, Book One, Book Three.
