Lots of twists and turns in the life
and loves of Spider-man happen in this volume. Really like the Mutant version
of “The Running Man.”
A book is like the TARDIS. Open it up and it's bigger on the inside. One part reading journal, one part educational tool for pop culture newbies and parents of young geeks. This blog is your portal into the world of movies, TV, superheroes, and of course books!

"Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 3: Resurrection of Evil (v. 3)"
WORTH CONSUMING!
The defining moment in Star Wars
fans lives is playing out in beautiful full color- That’s right-
THEEMPIRESTRIKESBACK!!!- The official movie adaption is in this volume. Most of
the movie is recreated in true to form detail- Except sadly, the Carbonite Room
scenes. The color is not the full rich orange and midnight blue.
Still, having TESB in this volume
makes it worth consuming! It could have Lando Calrissian having a tryst with
Chewbacca in issue 50. It could have a Jabba with 2 heads and the body of an
ant. And Leia in a rain coat instead of a metal bikini in issue 53- having the
best Star Wars movie in here makes this book worth consuming!!!!

Give It Up! : My Year of Learning to Live Better with Less
First things first, I must comment
of the author’s picture on the back of the book. 100% Jersey Girl- now I know-
don’t judge a book, much less it’s author by its cover. However, the massive
amounts of shoes, chocolate, and alcohol consumed by this person- much less the
severe withdraws she suffers from giving these items up for one month really
helps to prove my point.
I just can’t fathom needing to
unwind after work with 1 beer or cocktail- much less 2-5 as she claims to have
drunk on average before her January of sobriety. Same goes with her need for
coffee. Chocolate, I kinda understand- I doubt I could go a month without ….

"Ultimate Spider-Man, Vol. 15: Silver Sable"
WORTH CONSUMING!
I really like that Spidey and Kitty
Pryde are a couple. What a unique take. I hope it lasts- but surely it won’t
and Parker and MJ will hook up! What do you expect in this type of wishful
thinking from a guy who thought for sure that Gwen Stacy would actually live in
this universe!

“Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 14: Warriors”
WORTH CONSUMING!
So JJJ hates Ben Ulrich’s use of the
word “Yathzee” as a catch phrase- well how come no one picks up on the annoying
fact that Spiderman has gotten into the terrible habit of saying “Woof!” every
time he lands on a rooftop? Speaking of bad habits, how about the fact that
Peter Parker says “Oy!” all the time but he never goes to synagogue???
Actually, is he even Jewish in the 1st place? Did I miss a lesson in Comics
101?
Don’t get me wrong- my wife is 1/2
Jewish- but never in our 8+ years of marriage have I ever heard her or any of
her relatives say “Oy!”
Still- this is a great story of backstabs, lowlifes, and the return of the Kingpin!!! Worth Consuming
"Dark Encounters (Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 2)"
WORTH CONSUMING!
Jabba the Hut spelled with only one
1- and he’s a seal??? Borgs running rampant and they aren’t trying to assimilate
anyone? Luke and Vader met up at a monastery?
It could only happen in the comics.
This is a very campy, kitschy, and
fun book to read. I love getting to “catch up” with old friends and not in
those very generic, cookie cutter novellas published in the last 15 years. Lots
of fun and worth consuming. Only 2/7 of the way there to the big 3-1!!!!
"Showcase Presents: The Flash, Vol. 1"
WORTH CONSUMING!
Those who read my reviews know I
love Barry Allen’s Flash. I’m very fond of them. When I was a child, I thrilled
to read these early adventures in full color and 1950’s vintage (all thanks to
my dad). Now, I can relive the excitement- even if I don’t remember any of
these stories.
Worth Consuming and I just cannot
wait for Volume 2.
“Captain America: Red, White, & Blue”
WORTH CONSUMING!
This is a great tribute to Capt.-
from the Spotlight articles to the “anthology” tales. However, the story in
which Capt. America dies while fighting off a bunch of geriatric Red Skulls is
NOT how he gets killed!!!! So don’t think that’s how he dies after turning
himself in and wondering where Sharon Carter fits in in all of this. For that-
you’ll have to read something else- probably Captain America: Fallen Son or
some other TPB that is TBA.

"1602:New World, #5”
NOT WORTH CONSUMING
The end of this chapter of the 1602
Universe comes to a close- however the 12 pages at the end of the book raise
some eye brows and makes one wonder if they were cheated out of a full issue at
the full price of the previous 4 issues.
1602:NW was entertaining, but it’s
like most sequels- not as good as the original- overall- for a series- worth
consuming- but do not pay full price for all 5 issues try ebay or
milehighcomics.com and get them there for a fraction of the price!!!
"Doomworld (Star Wars: A Long Time Ago..., Book 1)"
WORTH CONSUMING!
I turned 30 last November 24th and
since it was also the 30th birthday of Star Wars, I wanted to celebrate my 30th
with a bang- a Huge Jedi mind-tripping Sithed out BANG! So, I am planning on
reading all 122 issues (if you include the 3 ROTJ Tie-Ins) of the original
Marvel Series before I turn the big 3-1!
Well, wish me luck and may the Force
be with me!

"1602: New World #4"
WORTH CONSUMING!
A new government has its first
battle, Parquah and Iron Man must choose sides, and the Native Americans join
forces with Hulk.
Not my favorite issue in the series,
in fact, it’s deliberately slow in order to have a big blow out in the
concluding issue.
Worth Consuming- but just barely!!!

Marvel 1602: New World #3
WORTH CONSUMING!
Witchbreeds are in trouble on the
island of Roanoke, The King gets really mad, and learn how an Iron Man could
recharge his batteries in the 17th century.
Worth Consuming and best issue in
the series so far!
"1602: New World, #1 of 5 (Comic Book)"
WORTH CONSUMING!
It’s not as good as 1602- but I
think not having Neil Gaiman really hurts the quality of anything that has his
signature on it. Still, a very good start to the series, kinda like a What If…
story.
Worth Consuming- but again, if
you’re looking for the magic of the first series- YOU WILL NOT FIND IT!

"1602: New World, #2 of 5 (Comic Book)"
WORTH CONSUMING!
Parquagh’s powers really start to
show up, Indian tensions hit an all-time high, no less thanks to an Osborne,
and Virginia Dare learns she has some frightening new abilities.
