"The Grim Grotto (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 11)"

If it was not for the fact that you have to read this book in order to understand books 12 and the upcoming 13th and final book; I WOULD HAVE SAID THIS BOOK WAS NOT WORTH CONSUMING!!!

The narrative was just awful and everywhere. I could not tell where the kids were at times, and the last names Snicket and Windershins was so interchanged, I wasn’t sure who was related to whom. I did like how it ended and I am optimistic that book 12 will not suck.

So far my ranking is (read so far…) goes like this:

Book Eight, Book Two, Book Five, Book Seven, Book Ten Book Six, Book Nine, Book Four, Book One, Book Three, Book Eleven.

"Secret Wars (Marvel Super Heroes)"

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Not Marvel’s best.

Here’s the recipe:

Take 2001: A Space Odyssey, subtract all the parts that people can understand, add 3 parts clichés, mix in some of the worst artwork of X-Men ever drawn, and a dash of interesting plot developments and you have Secret Wars.

How many times can people who are dwarfed by a giant creature be described as “gnats”, How often can we believe that Dr. Doom is afraid to destroy the universe in his sleep. Is the WASP really that vain about her looks?

I just wasn’t buying it. Except for the fact that I did buy it…thankfully used and half price. But I do intend on keeping SW mostly for the fact I want to own a copy every X-Men story ever written.

"Futurama-O-Rama (Simpsons Futurama)"

WORTH CONSUMING!
Love Futurama? Wish they would make new episodes? Well, this set of 4 stories is like having 4 new episodes. It was great to have all the favorites back Bender, Frye, and Zoidberg. Except for the Zapp Branagan story, it is a great read.

Worth Reading

"The Slippery Slope (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 10)"

WORTH CONSUMING!
So far my ranking is (read so far…) goes like this:

Book Eight, Book Two, Book Five, Book Seven, Book Ten Book Six, Book Nine, Book Four, Book One, Book Three.

A slightly different feel, now the lack of solved mysteries is getting a little frustrating. But it is good to see the kids growing up in this series unlike some series in which the children are forever 10 years old.

A few great surprises and a hoo-hum surprise as well.

"The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events # 9)"

So far my ranking is (read so far…) goes like this:

Book Eight, Book Two, Book Five, Book Seven, Book Six, Book Nine, Book Four, Book One, Book Three

It started off unique, The Kids in disguise and Olaf and his henchmen being duped. Some of the mysteries were not solved, but enlightened, and then cliché, cliché, cliché.

Yet another fire, the redundant definitions returned, and predictably, since both Klaus and Violet had been kidnapped by Olaf, well of course, it’s Sunny’s turn now.

The Batman-like cliffhanger was a nice twist. Worth Consuming but not my fav, by far.
