Stranger Things Winter Special One Shot

Christmas, 1984.

The boys meet at the Byers household to help Eleven celebrate her first ever Christmas. There will be gifts, Christmas cookies and lots of cheer. It's also Eleven's first introduction to holiday specials. But which one should she pick?

Dustin, Mike, Lucas and Will take turns explaining some classics. While the reader will know what the fellas are talking about, in El's mind, these TV specials star the vast cast of characters that occupy Hawkins; including a Demogorgon or two.

I have yet to see a single episode of Stranger Things. Yet, I've read 2 holiday comics and done a ton of research over it and I am hooked. My wife has a $75 Netflix gift card hiding somewhere in the house. If I ever find it, I'm going to binge it!

Not a single holiday special is named by name. I'm sure Dark Horse couldn't afford the licensing fees. But I knew what every one of them where. This was a fun read and I wished that this comic, like every Christmas I've ever experienced, wouldn't have ended!

Worth Consuming!

Tis the Ugly Sweater Season! Advent 2021: Day 9

I had so much fun yesterday exploring the 1980s through ugly Christmas sweaters. So I decided to keep that sorta fun alive by looking at the 90s for Advent Day 9!

Oddly enough, the main image was taken from a Thanksgiving episode.

Christmas Spice is my Favorite Spice.

For those Nirvana fans...

Harry & Marv from Home Alone.

I love the Big Lebowski. One of the greatest films ever made!

Be sure to wear this when you light up your Log... it's big, it's heavy, it's wood!

I hope you enjoyed this look at 90s inspired ugly sweaters. Let's not end that fun just yet. Here's a look at Christmas commericals from the decade. Enjoy.

The Flash #87

A Flash Christmas issue? Yes!

Santas with guns? Oh, Yes!

Murderous Santas wearing Hawaiian shirts and matching Bermuda shorts? Yes, please!

Christmas is rapidly approaching Keystone City and the thermometer is approaching triple digits! With this holiday heatwave, crime is on the rise. And this means Wally West is being run ragged!

This also means bad things for Wally and his girlfriend Linda Park. Being the Flash keeps Wally from meeting Linda's parents. Any time spent together is tense and terse. And Wally missed the Christmas party Linda planned! Could it get any worse?

Absolutely!

This was a good holiday themed Flash. Mark Waid (Superman) crafted a very fast paced story that perfectly balances the holiday spirit and superhero comics. But I was very disappointed that the secret behind the heatwave wasn't addressed.

Okay. Maybe this is just a normal heatwave. But there's a scene where after Wally decorates his Christmas tree and you see what looks like this haze steaming off of the holiday lights. I thought it would have been really awesome if Heatwave or Weather Wizard or one of the Rogues had fixed up the town's lights to generate heat. Alas, that didn't happen here. But it would have been a great way to bend this plot line around.

Enjoyable read but I had other ideas on how this could have/should have turned out.

Worth Consuming!

Tis the Ugly Sweater Season! Advent 2021: Day 8

For Day 8 lets go back to that totally tubular decade- the 1980s! It was a fun time full of pop culture icons that will never fade! So enjoy this look at everything from Alf-to-ZZ Top!

The website I got this image from says that this sweater is 3-D. I can't for the life of me figure out why makes it 3-D.

This tribute to a major award lights up.

Sadly, George Michael died in his sleep on Christmas Day, 2016.

In America, the 80s was the Reagan 80s.

The debate continues- is Die Hard a Christmas movie?

Ugly holiday sweaters for the whole family courtesy of the Sears Christmas Wish Book!

The name of this sweater is Ghosts of Christmas Pasts. I love it!

This pastel sweater with a rainbow maned unicorn screams 1980s!

I know that the legacy of the Cos has been tarnished beyond repair. But as a former history major, I refuse to edit history. If you are exploring ugly sweaters in the 1980s, you have to include Bill Cosby.

The 80s were all about pastels!

Let's not let the 80s nostalgia end yet. Here's a look at another annual event that started in the 80s- holiday shopping frenzy! Enjoy!

Tis the Ugly Sweater Season! Advent 2021: Day 7

On the night of Christ's birth, the angels sang. Thus, music and Christmas have gone hand-in-hand since the very beginning.

I'm a fan of crossovers. This Muppets/Zildjan sweater is great!

This sweater features Skinny and Fat Elvis!

I think they missed an opportunity not having mistletoe on this sweater some how.

Here's a look at some music themed ugly sweaters.

Nowadays, as soon as Halloween is over, at least 1 radio station will begin to play Christmas songs on November 1st. In my area, it's Mix 99.5. I've been listening. But they've yet to play anything that's essential on my Christmas playlist. So as my gift for you, here's a link to my Youtube created list of 10 must hear festive tunes.

Enjoy!
