Until the advent of Commander
Data, Saavik was my favorite new Star Trek character. Thus, I am so glad to
catch a glimpse at her origin. Not much of this entire story is canon,
but with Spock dead, you have to choose someone else for Saavik to want to Pon
Far with.
Plus, it’s only fitting that
the awesome (and terribly underused) Romulans return in this story.
