Issue two of this monumental series is not sophomore slump.
The everyday lives of a half-dozen residents of Gotham City go from bad to
worse as life gets in the way. A terminal disease, a fear of an unfaithful
spouse, a broken promise, and a day dream that turns into a deadly obsession
are the stars of this issue. Who needs Batman or any of his partners for this
to be a fantastic Batman story? In fact,
I’m not even sure Batman even appeared in this issue exception in passing.
