Doctor Who #3 (Marvel 1984-86) (Doctor Who Month)

One of my all-time favorite Doctor Who covers!
The TARDIS materializes on a freighter bound for New Earth. (I’m wondering, it this is the New Earth the Doctor and Rose meet the Face of Boe in series 2 of the new Doctor Who…? Anyways) The freighter is attacked by werewolf-like creatures and they manage to infect the Doctor! In classic Timey Wimey fashion, the Doctor locks himself in the TARDIS with K9 for 3 months searching for a cure where on the freighter, only 10 minutes have passed. The true show is revealed at the end as we learn that the Doctor’s most dreaded foes are behind these werewolf attacks.

Monsters abound in this issue as the backup features complete the Cyberman story from the last issue and the Doctor introduces a short story about the Sontarians. The art of the Sontarians looks nothing like the classic design, but it’s got an EC Comics-like twist ending that I enjoyed.

The middle pin-up and trivia section had several pics that look nothing like Leela or the Brigadier, but the history of American Doctor Who conventions were really cool. I wish I could go.

Rating 8 out of 10 stars.

Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey Scale: 10 out of 10.
