"Batman: Knightfall Part One: Broken Bat"

WORTH CONSUMING!

Starts off real slow, until the inmates start to take over the city. A great first part in the Knightfall series. I am not quite a fan of this artwork though. It’s very dated and many drastic thin inking’s- they just don’t mix. This Gotham is too much like Metropolis or like the Batman of the ‘60s only with gritty, Tarantino style stories of gore and pain. Batman and his domain should be dark, grimy and fully of thick lines that imply a shadowy demeanor to all its residents. And the Robin character- who’s supposed to be 13-16 looks like he’s in his early 20’s most of the time. Also, in terms of the color, it’s unforgiveable that in the closing page of an issue, the Mayor’s PJ’s are pink and on the splash page of the next issue, they are blue. Such inconsistencies should have been caught by a script supervisor. Still, this is very much worth consuming.
