The shining light that
is Damian Wayne, the Son of Batman is beginning to wane. When several
unaffiliated assassins set their sight on killing the current Robin, Batman and
his team of international Batmen uncover a global plot by Talia Al Ghul to
basically watch the world burn. That is unless Damian dies or rejoins forces
with his mother.
Spawning from the
League of Batman storyline from almost 7 years ago, Batman Incorporated is a
unique look at the Batman Family. When you can’t get the many jobs that need to
be done at one time, what is a Dark Knight to do but to create his own team of
Batmen posing as a super-powered security force for hire! It’s also a clever
rouse to throw off suspicion that Bruce Wayne is Batman and explains why Wayne
Enterprises technology looks an awful lot like the gear used by the Caped
Crusader.
Included in this book
is Batman Inc. #0, which offers an origin into the League of Batmen and how the
company went public. But the best chapter in this book is a look back at Batman
#666. In that issue, which I own but have not read yet, Batman is given a
vision of the future in which a faltering Damian Wayne, now donning the Batman
cowl, is supposedly responsible for the destruction of Gotham. It’s a stunning
dystopian look at the future and sets off a series of events that will
culminate in the Son of Batman choosing sides once and for all.
