Dr. Banner’s adventures as an employee of SHIELD
continues as he and his team of researchers experiment on a shard of Uru metal
taken from Thor’s hammer. With it, they build a dimensional portal that spans
the mythical nine realms in search of sources of alternative energy. But with
any good dimensional scrambler, I mean transporter, there’s complications as it
sends the time back in time to pair with a god of thunder who has no idea who
Dr. Bruce Banner or the Hulk is.
This first half
of volume 2 is excellent. It has Thor and he’s really becoming an all-time
favorite of mine. Plus, the mysteries behind Dr. Banner’s team and why he chose
this band of misfits is slowly becoming known. So, there’s some serious plot
progression here. But, it’s the second half of this book which is perhaps the
best of the entire series (thus far.)
Banner meets with his lawyer, Matt Murdock, for a brief
meeting and ends up stalking dangerous arms dealers in the pits of Hell’s
Kitchen with Daredevil. The buddy cop banter between the two characters and the
way Daredevil is able to reign in the Hulk is brilliant. I would read a team-up
series of Hulk and Daredevil if it was on stands right now! Plus, there’s a
great cameo of an unexpected baddie and tons of SHIELD action to be had in just
2 short issues.
I may not agree with everything Marvel is doing with its
Marvel NOW! retool, but it’s got it right with Indestructible Hulk. Keep it up!
Worth Consuming.
